Tenant Activity Specialist (Corner House)

Job Summary
Develop and implement group curricula promoting inclusion, wellness, and skill building for tenants at Corner House. Facilitate therapeutic activity groups covering cooking, laundry, and daily living skills while coordinating recreational events, cultural outings, and seasonal activities like gardening. Collaborate with the Social Service Team and outside providers to deliver health education and vocational training, and provide escorts to appointments and community trips. Carry a small caseload of tenants, assisting with entitlements, medical treatment, and crisis intervention while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with agency policies. Prepare and serve nutritious meals as required, fostering opportunities for tenants to strengthen social relationships and maintain permanent housing stability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field
- CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification
- NYS Food Handlers License
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Ability to use or learn databases such as AWARDS
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and travel with clients throughout the city
- Able to lift 30–50 lbs as needed
- Ability to alternate between standing and sitting
- Ability to prepare and serve healthy meals
- Fully vaccinated
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with homeless or formerly homeless individuals
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders
- Experience developing, implementing, and facilitating groups
