Job Summary
Develop and deliver wildfire mitigation education and safety programs for Austin Water. Collaborate to support Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) and Fire Adapted Communities (FAC); create presentations and educational materials, coordinate with GIS analysts to develop area risk models, and liaise with internal/external partners for joint wildfire education and training. Assist in assessing and developing wildland fire prevention strategies, and help deliver online wildfire safety and evacuation plans and communication strategies. Contribute to prescribed fire and fuels program field activities, crew planning, and logistics; leverage knowledge of NFPA Firewise USA, CWPP, FAC, NWCG, WUI, and HIZ concepts; strong communications and training capabilities are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Two years of relevant experience
- Must be able to obtain ISA Wildfire Risk Reduction qualification, WUI certification, or NFPA Wildfire Mitigation Specialist certification within one year of acceptance
