Temporary Services Electrician (Shipyard)

Job Summary
Install, maintain, and remove temporary electrical power systems, cabling, panels, generators, and related equipment aboard vessels and on piers. Troubleshoot, test, and repair temporary service electrical systems using diagnostic equipment while reading schematics and drawings to complete installations and repairs. Perform circuit analysis, fault identification, and corrective actions, ensuring all services comply with NAVSEA standards, OSHA requirements, and project specifications. Assist with generator setup, support testing and inspections, and train junior electricians as needed. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand. Work includes overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts in confined or elevated shipyard environments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of shipyard, marine, industrial, or commercial electrical experience
- Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting temporary electrical service systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, OSHA standards, and marine electrical work environments
- Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work aboard vessels, in tanks, voids, cofferdams, and elevated locations
- Current WAF training or ability to obtain required shipyard certifications
- Ability to obtain or maintain Rapid Gate, DBIDS, or other site access credentials as required
- Reliable transportation to report to assigned shipyard or project locations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Navy vessel repair or NAVSEA projects
- Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-08, 009-28, and 009-74
- OSHA 10 Maritime or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with temporary service generators and power distribution systems
- Experience leading or training junior electricians
