Job Summary
Provide calm, supportive crisis response and connect clients to appropriate resources while maintaining site safety through regular rounds and security camera monitoring. Respond to daily needs from clients, volunteers, and visitors with radical hospitality, managing facility meals, supplies, and donations to ensure proper inventory. Conduct move-ins, completions, and move-outs, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth transitions while preparing rooms and organizing belongings. Create shift logs, participate in meetings, and engage in continuous training to support team collaboration. Maintain high ethical conduct regarding confidentiality and professionalism while fostering a supportive environment for all.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of directly related experience in the homelessness or human services field
- Direct involvement in peer advocacy, community outreach, or support roles within the homelessness services field
- Willingness and ability to work with people from all backgrounds with care, respect, and empathy
- Understanding and commitment to learning about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practices
- Ability to demonstrate radical hospitality by welcoming everyone with kindness, respect, and non-judgment
- Ability to manage stress and emotions professionally, remaining calm and supportive even under pressure
- Understanding and practice of de-escalation techniques to support safety and positive client outcomes
- Openness to feedback, asking questions, and showing a strong growth mindset focused on continuous learning
- Curiosity and motivation to learn about trauma-informed care, crisis support, and harm reduction practices
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to follow directions, communicate clearly, and seek help or clarification when needed
- Ability to maintain clear, unbiased, and professional documentation and communication
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail to support smooth daily operations
- Initiative, responsibility for tasks, and active engagement with clients, coworkers, and community partners
- Comfort using basic technology, including phone and messaging systems, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases to complete administrative tasks
- Completion of CPR training
- Completion of Mental Health/First Aide (MHFA) training
- Completion of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Completion of HMIS and internal database training
- Completion of Client's Experience of Trauma-Informed Care training
- Completion of Working with Individuals Experiencing Homelessness training
- Completion of Overview of Serious Mental Illness for Paraprofessionals training
- Completion of Working with Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and Substance Use Disorder training
- Completion of An Overview of Substance Use Disorders training
- Completion of Strategies for Preventing and De-escalating Hostile Situations training
- Completion of Recognizing and Responding to a Person in Crisis training
- Completion of Maintaining Professional Boundaries training
- Completion of Overcoming Barriers to LGBTQ+ Affirming Behavioral Health Services training
- Completion of Privacy and Confidentiality for Non-HIPAA Covered Entities training
- Completion of Child/Elder/Dependent Abuse Prevention and Mandated Reporting training
- Completion of Preventing, Identifying, and Responding to Abuse and Neglect training
- Completion of Reporting Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse in California training
- Completion of Identifying and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect training
- Availability for Sunday through Thursday schedule
- Availability for 12AM-8:30AM shift
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
