Job Summary

Temporary hourly Research Assistant in the Art of Europe department to research opportunities for traveling MFA Netherlandish paintings to college and university museums. Responsibilities include conducting quantitative analysis of display opportunities, researching lending programs, liaising with registrars and curators on lending requirements, incorporating conservation survey results into travel feasibility, and assisting in developing a budget for a sustainable loan program. Requires advanced degree in European art history or related experience, strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Position is six months, 18–21 hours per week, pay $27.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in European art history, or equivalent related experience
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Dutch Republic and Flanders art history
  • Experience working in museums or related settings, preferably within a curatorial department
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated presentation ability
  • Organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Collaborative work style and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders
