Job Summary

Temporary part-time Residence Worker in Maple Ridge, BC, supporting a Ministry of Child and Family Development-funded program for youth and children with complex needs. Responsibilities include building relationships with residents and families, assisting with activities of daily living and life-skills, contributing to care plans, administering medications as needed, providing transportation to appointments, acting as on-site advocate, offering emotional support, and delivering trauma-informed care and ABA-informed supports. Requires diploma in relevant field, experience with autism/ABA, ability to manage challenging behaviours, strong communication, and compliance with safety and privacy policies. Unionized environment with wage starting at $27.54/hour and incremental increases; benefits per collective agreement. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and hold or obtain required clearances (CR clearance, references, First Aid, driver’s license, and vaccination requirements as applicable). Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in behavioural sciences, social work, human services, psychology, child & youth care, community social services or equivalent with one-year related experience
  • Experience with children and youth with multiple diagnoses such as FASD, ADHD, trauma, and complex behavioral challenges
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Autism OR an educational background in ABA
  • Experience delivering trauma informed care practices and supports
  • Experience supporting children and youth with developmental delays, intellectual, emotional, and social challenges, and multi-barriered families
  • Ability to work with challenging and aggressive behaviours calmly and effectively
  • Ability to work in a specialized home environment that may include handling aggressive clients and body fluids
  • Ability to support children and youth in self-cleaning, hygiene, and daily life-skills
  • Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices in related fields
  • Time management, accuracy, attention to detail
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with families and team members
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
  • Ability to complete a Criminal Records check and Ministry of Child and Family Development Clearance
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Personal transportation in good repair for transporting residents
