Job Summary
Temporary Swing Shift Program Aid at St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco, supporting MSC/Drop-In Center operations by monitoring residents, providing resources, and ensuring safety. Responsibilities include monitoring activities, recording client data in CHANGES, distributing blankets and towels, performing bed checks and meal-line supervision, maintaining cleanliness, attending staff meetings, and upholding Standards of Care. Requires high school degree, strong English communication, experience with homeless individuals, data-entry proficiency, and ability to work under pressure; vaccination and CPR/First Aid certification required. Schedule is Swing Shift 4:00pm–12:30am with Friday–Tuesday or Wednesday–Sunday shifts; temporary period from 5/18/26–9/15/26 (or 5/15/26–9/18/26); hourly pay $24; sick leave per PSLO; EOE.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Good communication English skills, both verbal and written
- Experience and ability to work with men and women who are homeless, indigent, alcoholic, mentally ill, and/or unemployed
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to work well under pressure and in crisis situations
- Ability to learn new skills and follow procedures
- Proficient in data entry, learning new software and Microsoft Word
- Ability to maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships
- Demonstrated use of Vincentian values such as respect, dignity, integrity, collaboration, justice, stewardship, compassion, client advocacy and resourcefulness
- Demonstrated excellence in relating to clients and performing duties
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with guests, volunteers and staff
- Commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco
- Covid vaccination and negative result on TB test required
- Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer
- This position requires current CPR and First Aid certification given by MSC.
