Job Summary
Perform Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) inspections on welds, piping, pressure vessels, and structural components using calibrated equipment and applicable codes. Interpret inspection data to identify discontinuities, prepare accurate reports, and maintain complete documentation. Review work scopes, procedures, and drawings prior to execution, ensuring all tasks comply with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Communicate findings to supervisors and project teams while participating in safety meetings and job hazard analyses. Travel to customer sites across the U.S. for turnaround, outage, and project work on varying schedules including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Level II PAUT certification in accordance with the employer's Written Practice (SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, or NAS-410, as applicable)
- Documented classroom training and experience hours required to maintain Level II certification
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment and client-required drug and alcohol screenings
- Strong understanding of ultrasonic testing principles, phased array technology, and inspection techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, welding symbols, and technical specifications
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and inspection reporting software
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Travel to customer sites as required and work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and shutdowns
Desired Qualifications
- Additional NDT certifications (UT, TOFD, RT, MT, PT, VT, PMI, ET, CR/DR)
- Experience with corrosion mapping, encoded PAUT, TOFD, or advanced ultrasonic applications
- Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, and other applicable industry codes and standards
- IRRSP certification (if performing radiography support)
- Current TWIC Card
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, power generation, manufacturing, aerospace, or construction environments
