Job Summary
Assist with food purchasing, inventory, and preparing, packaging, and transporting meals and snacks to preschool locations across the agency. Make approved menu substitutions when necessary and monitor children's dietary restrictions and allergies. Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas while maintaining required temperature logs. Clean refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, sinks, and storage areas, and prepare classroom bleach sanitizing solutions. Receive deliveries from vendors and the Food Bank of South Jersey, restock paper goods, and deliver food and supplies to school-age programs and agency events as needed. Remove trash and maintain a clean kitchen environment. This temporary role runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM (30 hours/week) at Glassboro Child Development Centers, with a pay rate of $17.98 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current ServSafe Certification
- Experience with commercial food preparation and safe food handling
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Current automobile insurance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to frequently use stairs
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation practices
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations
- Knowledge of CACFP regulations and food safety requirements
- Knowledge of children's nutritional needs in a multicultural setting
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend hours
