Job Summary
Conduct daily lifeguard duties, group swim instruction, or custodial maintenance at the South Jordan Fitness & Aquatics Center. Perform required swim skills tests, including treading water and retrieving objects from depth, and deliver safe, positive learning environments for children. Submit applications with available days and times to Yasi or Chelsea, and pass a pre-employment background check. Work as an at-will, FLSA non-exempt employee averaging 29 hours or less per week, with flexible morning, mid-day, afternoon, and Sunday shifts available.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Successfully complete a swim skills test
- Tread water for 1 minute without using hands
- Swim 100 yards continuously
- Retrieve a 10-pound brick from a 6-foot depth using a feet-first surface dive
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Pass a swim screening test
- Enjoy working with children ages 3–17
- Provide a safe and positive learning environment
- Follow all program standards and instructional guidelines
- Selected applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check
- Must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month
- Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy
- Are 'at will' employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing
