Job Summary
Provide support for licensed teachers in implementing IEPs for students with moderate to severe disabilities through individual and small-group instruction, data collection, and clerical duties. May assist with supervision of students in playground and cafeteria to maintain a safe environment. Responsibilities include assisting teachers with instructional activities, preparing instructional materials, monitoring student progress toward IEP goals, maintaining confidential data, and providing personal care assistance as required by individual student IEPs. Requires collaboration with district staff, adherence to district policies, and readiness to participate in training such as CPS and SYNC certifications. Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent; candidates should be able to work in diverse settings and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of the provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
- Knowledge of techniques and methods of student supervision and classroom management in settings involving students with moderate to severe learning and/or physical disabilities and/or social/behavioral problems
- Positive attitude and works well with children
- Comprehend and follow written and oral instructions and complete work within established timelines
- Flexible and able to work harmoniously with others
- Willing to learn and implement new programs
- Willing to receive CPS training and SYNC Certification
- Proficient English usage, grammar and punctuation skills
- Maintain a calm mindset; work well under pressure/not get aggravated
- Basic technology skills
- Possess or ability to obtain First Aid Certification
- Be able to communicate openly with all staff
