Job Summary
Temporary Groundskeeper responsible for maintenance of school district grounds including mowing, landscaping, fencing, paving, concrete work, playground equipment installation and maintenance, garbage collection and hauling, and general grounds upkeep. Duties include operating power tools and vehicles, soil preparation, planting and irrigation, seasonal pesticide spraying when licensed, inspecting grounds for safety hazards, and performing other tasks as assigned. Must be able to work as part of a team and, when needed, as a team leader; able to meet deadlines; physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and walking on varied terrain; CDL endorsement required within 12 months; CDL license within 12 months; position is temporary for the 2025-26 school year. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated successful grounds keeping experience within last ten years
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and as a leader as needed
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions
- Ability to meet tight time constraints and deadlines including varying hours
- Regular attendance to meet program requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people in person, electronically, in writing, and by phone or radio
- Ability to walk on varied terrain and work outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to safely operate trucks, landscaping equipment, and hand tools
- Ability to obtain job related certifications within 12 months
- Class A CDL endorsement within 12 months
