Job Summary
Temporary Farm Town Keeper focused on animal care within a zoo setting. Responsibilities include feeding and watering animals, cleaning and maintaining animal quarters, preparing diets, maintaining records of daily activities, observing animal behavior for signs of illness, assisting veterinarians as needed, training assigned animals, responding to public inquiries, and assisting with restraint and movement of animals. The role progresses under supervision and involves approximately 400 hours over 10 weeks (40-hour weeks). Requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50-75 lbs, and a valid Class C driver license. 40-hour weeks and an hourly pay structure are indicated. Fort Worth, TX location with in-person work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of zoo animal program operations and activities
- Ability to handle a variety of animals (domestic and wild)
- Knowledge of proper feeding and diet requirements for animal species
- Familiarity with animal handling equipment and food prep equipment
- Ability to maintain accurate records on daily activities and animal behavior
- Ability to work independently and follow oral/written instructions
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with the public
- Capability to work in a team-oriented zoo environment
- Physical ability to lift 50-75 lbs and perform tasks in varying weather conditions
- Valid Class C driver license
