Job Summary
Manage day-to-day activity across PPIC's social media channels, including Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, while maintaining a consistent, engaging voice. Monitor news and California policy developments to identify timely opportunities for real-time content, then collaborate with the digital team to plan, execute, and evaluate campaigns tied to major reports and events. Develop high-quality graphics, copy, and short-form video drawn from PPIC research to engage policymakers, journalists, and the broader California policy community. Track key metrics and report on campaign performance to optimize digital content and stay current with emerging platforms and best practices. This temporary role covers an upcoming maternity leave and reports to the director of digital strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience in digital content, social media, or communications
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Experience with social media analytics platforms (e.g., Sprout Social)
- Experience developing and editing graphics, charts/maps, and video
- Experience with video production and editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Experience with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), WordPress, and preferably interactive graphics software (e.g., Tableau, Infogram, DataWrapper)
- Ability to manage social media across multiple platforms
- A solid understanding of brand management; excellent judgement required
- Demonstrable project management experience
- Proficiency in web and social media analytics
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Superior listening, written and oral communications skills. Strong editing skills
- Adept at building relationships with diverse groups of colleagues across the institute
- Able to take initiative, maintain focus, and work independently to manage multiple deliverables and timelines. A problem-solver who is proactive, motivated, and well-organized with keen attention to detail
- Interest in California policy issues
Desired Qualifications
- Working experience in a research organization or a nonpartisan media organization a plus
- Experience with interactive graphics software (e.g., Tableau, Infogram, DataWrapper)
- Ideal candidates would be able to shoot and edit high quality short-form social video that promotes PPIC research
