Job Summary
Sweep sidewalks, mops floors, and vacuums classrooms while policing buildings to empty trash and pick up debris. Scrub bathrooms, dust furniture, clean windows, and unload deliveries. Shovel snow, apply de-icing compounds, and perform minor appliance maintenance as needed. Open and secure buildings, adjust HVAC, and raise flags at day's start and end. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license and ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Reports to the Assistant Principal or Principal.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
- Has proven attendance record
- Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects
- Requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion
- May require working on ladders
- Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment
- Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment
- Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
- Requires the ability to talk and hear
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred
