Job Summary
Temporary part-time Community Ambassador Coordinator in Poughkeepsie, NY, for a 14-month initiative to engage residents in Fall Kill Creek planning. Lead and support a team of four Community Ambassadors; conduct canvassing, surveys, and outreach (door-to-door, tabling, phone banking, small groups); document community priorities and lived experiences; help organize workshops and public meetings; collaborate with city and design teams; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to connect diverse communities, and some evening/weekend availability. Compensation is $22.00/hour. Duration approximately June 2026 to May 2027 (11 months) with part-time—about 10-15 hours/month. Training and mentorship provided.
Required Qualifications
- Background in community organizing, canvassing, phonebanking, and facilitating group processes
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred; additional language skills are a plus
- Ability to use provided scripts and talking points while engaging in authentic, respectful conversations
- Comfortable conducting in-person outreach and community engagement
- Reliable and able to attend scheduled meetings, outreach events, and engagement activities
- Availability for some evening and weekend outreach as needed
