Job Summary
Develop, plan, organize, and implement therapeutic activity programs to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of residents. Coordinate with other departments for special events, transport residents to scheduled activities, and run all activities while ensuring coverage. Assist in training and supervising volunteers, participate in Care Plan meetings, and help develop written plans of care for each resident. Maintain records to ensure regulations are followed and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Requires two years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, including one full-time role in a healthcare setting.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, volunteers, personnel and support agencies
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Two years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting
- Must participate in programs for continuing education, working towards certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professions or a similar program
Desired Qualifications
