Job Summary

Conduct daily instruction for first-grade students, implementing well-planned methodologies that address academic, social, emotional, and physical needs. Develop and execute lessons incorporating culturally diverse themes, multiple assessment methods, and rigorous learning goals while maintaining a safe, respectful environment. Manage classroom behavior, communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, and maintain accurate student records. Support faculty members, assist with building budgeting and inventory, and perform non-instructional duties as assigned. Work a .40 FTE schedule of 3.25 hours per day for 190 days during the 2026-2027 school year.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible for or properly licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for assignment as a teacher
  • Current Oregon Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s) in the assigned subject matter and grade level
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English
  • Ability to present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to students and other school staff
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and area
  • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software, e-mail, internet software, spreadsheets, teaching software, and word processing software
  • Stamina for 8 hours of student instruction and supervision
  • Ability to use hands for repetitive motions, such as writing and typing
  • 3-6 hours/day standing or walking
  • 2-4 hours/day sitting
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs or ladders occasionally
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to engage in occasional physical interaction with students
  • Clear vision at 20 inches or less
  • Clear vision at 20 feet or more
  • Peripheral vision ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point
  • Ability to speak clearly to be understood
  • Ability to identify and understand the speech of others
  • Emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and control all aspects of the job
  • Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, community members, and students
  • Ability to solve conflict
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to contribute to building a positive team spirit
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
