Job Summary
Temporary, mid-level Sr. Manager Sync Licensing at BMG, based in Los Angeles, responsible for negotiating, clearing, and quoting inbound synchronization requests in the local territory, managing complex and basic deal structures, liaising with Rights & Royalties and copyright teams, and cultivating relationships with songwriters/artists, producers, and clients. Role involves staying informed on local market trends, cross-collaboration with Creative Sync/Sales, ensuring alignment of quoting language with long-form synchronization license agreements, and supporting the licensing administration process. Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days remote) with a 5-month assignment and the opportunity to influence revenue through effective sync negotiations and client management.
Required Qualifications
- Prior employment in the music business, preferably with a publisher, label, management, or agency, with experience in the sync licensing space
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and experience in the synchronization licensing field including proficient understanding of local market rates and standard practices
- Strong negotiation and deal-making skills
- General knowledge of copyright laws and/or local societies
- Strong network/relationships with local sync clients
- Great communication skills and ability to manage key information upward and outward
- Good attention to detail and solution oriented
- Team-oriented and thrives in a collaborative, productive environment
- Ability to navigate challenging situations with varying levels of clientele
- Ability to multi-task effectively and with relative autonomy
- A degree in music business or relevant work experience
