Job Summary
RN in Emergency Department (36-hour nights) provides and coordinates nursing care for patients under general supervision. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments across multiple systems, developing individualized care plans, delegating appropriate tasks, implementing evidence-based protocols, administering medications, and evaluating patient responses to treatment. Must perform accurate documentation in the EMR, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in quality assurance activities. Requires Oregon RN license, ACLS, BLS, and an ED-focused set of prerequisites; NIH Stroke Scale certification and pediatric-focused trainings are expected within specified timelines. The role emphasizes critical care nursing skills, patient education, discharge planning, and coordination with hospital departments and community agencies to support patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- 243 hours or more of ED/acute care experience preferred
- One year of current ED experience or Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
