Job Summary
Assess, plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the emergency department by performing multi-system assessments, identifying lab deviations, and developing individualized care plans. Initiate protocol-based measures for medical and surgical patients, accurately administer medications, and document all activities in the electronic medical record. Coordinate discharge planning with hospital and community agencies while classifying patient acuity levels and delegating tasks appropriately. Requires current Oregon RN license, nine months of RN experience, and one year of ED experience. Full-time night shift rotation with on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Computer keyboarding skills
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
