Job Summary
Assess, plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care for emergency department patients by performing multi-system assessments, interpreting lab diagnostics, and developing individualized care plans. Initiate protocol-based measures for medical and surgical patients, accurately document care in the EMR, and administer medications while managing emergency situations. Coordinate patient activities with other hospital departments and community agencies, establish care priorities, and classify patient acuity levels. Participate in unit quality assurance activities and ensure compliance with Oregon nursing standards. Requires nine months of RN experience with one year of current ED experience or completion of the New Grad Internship Program.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience
- Successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support
- Computer keyboarding skills
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN
- TNCC
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias
