Job Summary
Provide direct clinical assessment, screening, and initial treatment for non-emergent ambulatory psychiatric and primary care conditions at the Urgent Care Clinic. Conduct formal evaluations for 5150 status, mental health safety assessments, and medication evaluations while prescribing and administering medications according to standard protocols. Maintain ongoing monitoring and care for all clients, arranging safe transfers to other treatment services upon discharge. Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to respond to the needs of a diverse client population in psychological distress, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Identify and report trends affecting the clinic, including changes in referral patterns and treatment outcomes, to support program planning. Maintain a non-institutional ambiance and adhere to emergency procedures, including CPR and first aid.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with either a specialty in psychiatric nursing or 1 year documented experience providing nursing services in a psychiatric setting
- Possession of or eligible for Furnishing License
- Current valid California licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR certification
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certified
- Current state-issued Physician Assistant license
- DEA license
- Minimum 1 year of relevant, recent experience (psychiatry or mental health preferred)
- Willingness and ability to actively, enthusiastically and effectively engage psychologically distressed clients
- Respectful and responsive attitude while providing therapeutically sound services
- Respectfully responsive to persons of differing ethnic, cultural, gender, socioeconomic, and sexual-orientation backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively with medical and mental health staff and other service providers both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated on-going emotional stability
- Good judgment
- Effective team work
- Ability to work proficiently on computers and computer-based information systems
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to be insurable under the agency's current auto insurance policies
- Ability to quickly navigate several flights of stairs several times a day
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds multiple times during each work shift
- Ability to assist individuals in exiting the facility in the case of an emergency
- Ability to perform CPR and standard Medical First Aid procedures to persons in prone positions at ground level
