Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for emergency department patients by performing multi-system assessments, administering medications, and accurately documenting in the EMR. Coordinate patient care activities with other hospital departments and community agencies while establishing priorities and classifying acuity levels. Initiate appropriate measures based on protocols for medical and surgical patients, including responding to emergency situations and participating in unit quality assurance activities. Requires nine months of RN experience with one year of current ED experience or completion of the New Grad Internship Program. Schedule includes 36-hour night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Computer keyboarding skills
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
