Job Summary
Assess, plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care for patients by performing accurate multi-system assessments, identifying lab deviations, and developing individualized care plans. Initiate protocol-based measures for medical and surgical patients, correctly administer medications, and accurately document all activities in the EMR. Coordinate care activities with other hospital departments, classify patient acuity levels, and participate in unit quality assurance activities. Requires one year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program, a registered nurse license in Oregon, and completion of the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within six months of hire. Full-time night shift rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Computer keyboarding skills
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
