Job Summary
Accept deposits, process loan payments, cash checks, and handle savings withdrawals while assisting with night depository duties. Perform routine member transactions including withdrawals, cash advances, transfers, and money orders, ensuring all documents are authorized and within limits. Balance the coin machine daily, remove and replace coin bags, and verify cash drawer balances against vault returns. Provide information on membership eligibility, account types, interest rates, and office hours while actively promoting and cross-selling new products. Assist members with lobby management tasks such as check orders, stop payments, wire transfers, and debit card re-issuing. Respond to member inquiries via telephone, investigate errors, and resolve issues while adhering to Bank Secuity Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations. Rotate between branches as needed to support internal and external member service goals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two (2) or more years of related experience and/or training
- Work-related experience consisting of cash handling, customer service, and financial institution operations
- Educational experience through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry-related curriculum should be business or financial industry-related
- Effective sales experience with cross-selling products and services to grow membership through building relationships
- Ability to identify customer needs and sell products and services
- Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation
- Typing skills to meet the production needs of the position
- Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations and other Credit Union operational policies
- Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin, and negotiable instruments promptly
- Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, and speak clearly to members and employees
- Ability to deal with difficult problems
- Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, the ability to work with moderate supervision while performing duties, and be a strong team player
- Ability to handle simple problems in nature requiring some analysis or research to determine the best solution
- Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Must be able to see (such as close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus)
- Must be able to read documents or instruments
- Must be able to perform detailed work
- Must have strong math and analytical reasoning skills
- Must have the ability to effectively handle stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions
