Teller Service Specialist

Job Summary

Handle member requests with complete accuracy by processing transactions including loan payments, withdrawals, deposits, and check imaging. Operate the teller window, balance the cash drawer, and manage coin and postage machines while ensuring alarm systems are secured for daily openings and closings. Comply with federal regulations by completing CTR reports and verifying financial transactions to reduce risk. Cross-sell credit union products and services to build member loyalty and resolve account discrepancies or address changes. Maintain inventory, correct paperwork errors, and balance day-end reports while adhering to safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • High school level of language, math and reasoning skills
  • Two years experience in a related field with equal responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of all teller functions
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounts pertinent to the department
  • Working knowledge of the credit union's products and services
  • Working knowledge of organization's policies/procedures and Credit Union's service philosophy
  • Working knowledge of safety and security program for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats and extortion and active shooter
  • Working knowledge of credit union's in-house computer systems
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and verify financial transactions
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, members and vendors
  • Ability to perform necessary computer-related input
  • Ability to operate teller window
  • Ability to carry bags of coin
  • Ability to assess needs of multiple members and prioritize requests to ensure that all members receive the highest quality service possible
  • Ability to handle daily routine with moderate freedom to interpret and act upon various situations
  • Ability to present a professional and personable personality that communicates to members and visitors that the credit union is a professional financial institution
  • Ability to interact with more than one department daily
  • Ability to work within precise standardized guidelines with some latitude to make decisions and take initiative to resolve problems or unique circumstances
  • Ability to possess versatility and flexibility to successfully serve as a back-up to other positions as required
  • Ability to understand and follow moderately complex written and oral instructions
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to accept limited responsibility for funds/records and access to confidential data
  • Available to work M-F from 7:15am-5:45pm
  • Must be able to process day end reports
  • Must be able to operate teller window
  • Requires the ability to work flexible hours
