Job Summary

Process transactions including deposits, withdrawals, cashing checks, and change orders with accuracy while maintaining cash drawer limits and balancing daily. Verify identification and review account history to prevent fraudulent activity, ensuring compliance with Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws. Assist customers with special services such as selling official checks, processing cash advances, and redeeming savings bonds. Complete customer thank you calls, follow up on problem resolution, and recognize cross-sell opportunities to meet operational and sales goals. Transport coin from machines to the vault and perform opening and closing duties.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or the equivalent
  • Proficient in typing, 10-key calculator and data entry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Completion and comprehension of the following Southside Bank instructor led classes: New Employee Orientation
  • Completion and comprehension of the following Southside Bank instructor led classes: Teller Training, Teller Advanced and Professional Teller
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the time
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers
  • Must be able to transport 25 pounds of coin a distance of 5-25 feet from a work station to the vault, up to five times a day, depending on how much coin is delivered that day
  • Must be able to detect, recognize, and identify customers as they begin assisting them
  • Must be able to comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Must be able to maintain the security and confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information
  • Must be able to accurately communicate account information to customers
  • Must be able to recognize each customer transaction as a cross-sell opportunity
  • Must be able to know the products and services offered by the Bank with the ability to recall and explain key benefits to the customer
  • Must be able to understand and agree to abide by the policies and procedures established at Southside Bank
  • Must be able to follow established policies and procedures to avoid fraudulent activity (verify identification, review account history and recourse, etc.)
  • Must be able to follow compliance procedures and verifies accuracy of reporting applicable transactions such as CTRs, SARs, monetary logs, and Reg CC holds
  • Must be able to maintain cash drawer limits and responsible for meeting the balancing standards of the cash drawer on a daily basis, working in accordance with the Teller Over/Short Policies
  • Must be able to accept and verify customer deposits
  • Must be able to cash checks and process less cash transactions within authorized limits
  • Must be able to perform special services as requested by customers, such as selling official checks, process cash advances and loan payments, completion of stop payments and cardholder claim statements and redeem savings bonds with accuracy
  • Must be able to perform collection item processing such as dealer drafts and foreign items
  • Must be able to assist with opening and closing duties
  • Must be able to comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
  • Must be able to transport the cash from work booth inside the branch (Motor branches)
  • Must be able to transport the cash from the coin machine to a bag which is moved to the vault (In-store branches)

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months cash handling or customer service experience
