Job Summary
Television and Media Production Teacher responsible for instructing secondary students in all phases of video production (scripting, recording, editing, audio, lighting, directing, and computer graphics) and using Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and related software. Develops lesson plans, delivers a balanced program with on-air productions, adapts instruction for varying abilities, assesses student performance, maintains records, communicates with parents, and collaborates with staff. Requires five years of recent full-time TV/video production experience and a high school diploma or technical career license; bachelor's degree preferred; eligible for a Virginia teaching license. Primarily a classroom environment with on-air activities and responsibilities. Knowledge of mass communications, production equipment, and the ability to supervise and guide students in practical production settings.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of recent, full-time experience in TV/video production or broadcasting
- High School diploma or technical career license is required
- Bachelor's degree preferred (mass communications or closely related field)
- Eligible for Virginia teaching license (full or provisional)
- Experience with scripting, video production, editing, lighting, and graphics; proficiency with Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects
- Ability to develop clear instructional plans and monitor student progress
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with parents and staff; maintain records and manage equipment and facilities
