Job Summary

Telephonic Case Manager I coordinates resources and develops cost-effective, personalized care plans for ill or injured individuals, with the goal of supporting quality treatment and timely return to work. The role uses clinical expertise to assess treatment plan appropriateness and communicates with treating physicians, patients, family members, and adjusters to evaluate and recommend alternative options, while explaining medical conditions and treatment plans. This is a remote role requiring California RN licensure, a BSN (or equivalent) and 3+ years of clinical experience, with URAC/ CCM-related certification required within 3 years if not already held. Responsibilities include coordinating care with providers, planning and evaluating patient progress, negotiating delivery of nursing services and devices, preparing organized reports, and maintaining productivity metrics. Essential skills include independent medical decision-making, excellent written and verbal communication, multitasking in high-volume settings, interfacing with claims staff and providers, and proficiency with MS Office. The role supports the Case Management department and CorVel’s service goals, with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees and a pay range of $63,739 to $95,264.

Required Qualifications

  • California RN Nursing License
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSN preferred)
  • Current RN Licensure in state of operation
  • 3 or more years of recent clinical experience, preferably in rehabilitation
  • URAC recognized Case Management certification (ACM, CCM, CDMS, CMAC, CMC, CRC, CRRN, COHN, COHN-S, RN-BC) required to be obtained within 3 years of hire if no nationally recognized certification is present at time of hire
  • Strong clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation preferred
  • Strong cost containment background, such as utilization review or managed care helpful
  • Certification as a CIRS or CCM preferred
