Job Summary
Monitor assigned patients continuously, verifying correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact while responding to all alarms promptly. Perform EKG interpretations including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, and wave form alterations, ensuring strip validations by registered nurses. Maintain EKG monitor alarms and complete required EKG class competencies within 30 days of start. This per diem role at Select Specialty Hospital in Weirton offers 401k eligibility after 1,000 hours and potential advancement to full-time positions.
Required Qualifications
- Must complete and pass EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on education platform within 30 days of start date in position and pass other tests/competencies as required by Select Medical
- Must be able to continuously watch and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms
- Must be able to verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms and artifact
- Must be able to maintain EKG monitor alarms
- Must be able to respond to all alarms as needed
- Must be able to continuously observe all monitors assigned
- Must be able to respond to alarms promptly and appropriately
- Must be able to complete EKG interpretations including: rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, wave form alterations, and rhythm interpretation
- Must be able to ensure strip interpretations are validated by RN
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)*, Licensed Paramedic or RN nursing student with EKG training (*LPNs are limited to working as telemetry tech only.)
