Job Summary
Conduct constant surveillance of monitored patients' cardiac rhythm status and respond appropriately to all alarms, alerting nursing staff with the correct urgency. Document, report, and store patient information as appropriate, including giving and receiving shift reports on rhythm status. Notify nurses immediately of significant cardiac rate or rhythm changes, alarm violations, or technical monitoring difficulties. Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families while demonstrating professional behavior and accepting constructive criticism. Assist in the orientation of new monitor technicians and other health care professionals as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Basic skills in math, reading and writing English
- High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
- One-year previous health related experience
- Previous experience in cardiac monitoring in an acute care facility
