Job Summary
Constantly observe rhythms in the central telemetry monitoring system, documenting strips at shift start and immediately notifying assigned RNs or charge nurses of any changes. Clean and store monitoring equipment per policy, maintain accurate patient information in the Philips system, and report equipment needs. Act as Health Unit Coordinator on 11K, facilitating communication for new orders and supporting emergency procedures. Handle reception duties by greeting visitors, processing calls, and collecting data for quality improvement while maintaining a professional image. Maintain the monitoring area and promote service excellence across the Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ECG monitoring experience and/or previous ECG interpretation course
- At least 75% pass rate on OHSU rhythm interpretation exam in order to be considered
- 100% pass rate on OHSU rhythm interpretation exam within 1 month of hire
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Demonstrated collaboration & team work skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Current allied health science student with completion of a medical-surgical clinical rotation
- Paramedic, EMT, or military medic experience
- One (1) year experience as Telemetry Tech in an acute care facility
- Telemetry certification
- EMT certification C
- Current unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
