Job Summary
The Telecommunicator I role requires answering emergency and non-emergency calls, handling requests for police service, and operating communication systems. Candidates must effectively apply policies and maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment in stressful situations. Responsibilities also include assisting department personnel, working closely with police divisions, and completing necessary training and certification. Mandatory overtime may be required with short notice.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Successfully pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening and maintain a clear criminal background
- No FELONY or MISDEMEANOR
- Ability to type 35 wpm with accuracy
- Pass the pre-hire Critical assessment test; scoring at least 85% or higher
