Job Summary
Provide digital and analog telecommunication maintenance, installation, and repair services for inside and outside plant cable infrastructure and copper/fiber optic distribution systems to the United States Air Force Academy. Install telecommunications equipment, systems, and cables while performing preventative maintenance inspections. Troubleshoot, repair, test, and remove or replace equipment, and develop technical recommendations for infrastructure modifications. Maintain technological standards and investigate new telecommunications cable technologies. Support normal and on-call/after duty hours operations, including emergency restoration of communications cabling. Requires standing for long periods, ladder climbing, and lifting 40lbs items. Minimum three years telecommunications industry experience with five years in cable facility locating, construction, installation, and repair is required. BICSI Technician Credential is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in the telecommunications industry
- Minimum of five years' experience with cable (copper/fiber optic) facility locating, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair
- Experience with copper and fiber cable splicing
- Outside Plant and/or switch experience
- Associate's degree in electronic systems technology
- US Secret security clearance
- BICSI Technician Credential
