Job Summary
Directs the flow of incoming/outgoing calls, identifies caller targets, connects calls to appropriate extensions, and assists internal callers with outgoing calls. Provides relay services (TDD) for hearing-impaired callers and interpretive services by telephone/video. Pagers emergency codes, pages staff, and makes announcements while responding to alarms and following departmental procedures. Delivers accurate information to patients, staff, physicians, and the public; performs clerical duties such as typing and proofreading end-of-day reports; and assists with training new operators. Also greets visitors at the information desk, assigns passes, locates patients in the Meditech system, coordinates with nursing units, and supports housekeeping to maintain desk area. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly preferred and the role requires strong customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment.
