Job Summary

Telecommunications Designer I/II for Joint Use/Telecommunications Designers in Harrisonburg, VA. The Designer monitors the work of contractors for quality control and contract compliance on roadway and utility projects. Project assignments involve traffic control, coordination with property owners, utility companies and local/state agencies. Responsibilities include processing attachment permits for Joint Use partners, acting as liaison on permits/inspections/rebuilds/NESC and/or RUS interpretations, preparing joint-use pole construction/design projects and cost estimates, handling payments and billing, maintaining files of agreements and permits, and performing other duties including non-Joint Use design work. The role requires the ability to work both in an office and in the field. Skills/requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; working knowledge of distribution design, estimating, and NESC/RUS codes (preferred); familiarity with cable/telecom operations (preferred); knowledge of Joint Use design software (ArcFM, Partner, Mapwise, PoleForeman, Ike Office, etc.); proficiency with Microsoft Office; and experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD or Microstation (preferred). Strong communication, data interpretation, and multi-project prioritization are important, with a dynamic pace and alignment to the firm’s values. Compensation estimates range from $52,000-$72,000 and include equal opportunity considerations.
