Job Summary
Perform site surveys, pull cable, terminate, and troubleshoot physical cabling across the CA campus while running patch cables and mounting hardware following data center standards. Monitor Service Now ticket queues to ensure timely task completion and execute adds, moves, and changes for VoIP and non-VoIP telephones. Troubleshoot telephone configurations, administer IT systems via command-line tools, and develop high-quality documentation using labels and spreadsheets. Complete tasks on cabling infrastructure projects where safety, quality, and workmanship are paramount. Requires DOE Security Clearance, US citizenship, and 2+ years of experience. Hourly pay ranges from $39.51 to $43.15.
Required Qualifications
- experience in managing general business management
- basic project management
- Familiarity with telecommunications and data center terms (e.g. "fiber optic cable", telecommunications carriers", "UPS", "generator", etc.)
- AS in relevant discipline
- minimum 2 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
- Must be US Citizen
Desired Qualifications
- Commscope parts familiarity
- Fiber experience preferred over copper
- BICSI certifications (TECH, installer 1, installer 2, OSP, etc.)
- Comsec knowledge
- Avaya VoIP phones: Familiarity with configuration, installation, and troubleshooting phone endpoint
