Job Summary
Assist with entry-level installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and inspection of telecommunications equipment, systems, and infrastructure under immediate supervision. Perform troubleshooting, system testing, and documentation while maintaining accurate records, reports, and drawings. Operate tools and test equipment, read technical diagrams, and manage inventory in compliance with safety rules, NERC CIP, and environmental practices. Respond to emergency callouts and complete assigned training to develop technical support skills in transmission, fiber optics, and networking systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate degree, or equivalent 2-year technical degree, in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology, or related technology field
- Military training/experience in related technology field
- Ability to understand and aptitude to learn entry level technical support skills
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of related work experience or industry knowledge
- Must demonstrate knowledge of entry to basic level technical support skills equivalent to a Telecom Technician Apprentice III
- Minimum of 1 year of technical work experience in addition to education requirement
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of related work experience or industry knowledge
- Must demonstrate knowledge of basic level technical support skills equivalent to a Telecom Technician Apprentice II
- Minimum of 2 years of technical work experience in addition to education requirement
- Must have successfully completed all required training for the previous job level
- Must have successfully completed all required training for the previous job level
- Must have successfully tested the knowledge, skills, and capabilities required of an experienced Telecom Technician Apprentice III
- Must have successfully tested the knowledge, skills, and capabilities required of an experienced Telecom Technician Apprentice II
- Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Must be able to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer associate degree, or equivalent 2-year technical degree, in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology, or related technology field
- Prefer military training/experience in related technology field
