Job Summary
Telecom Technician - OSP installs, splices, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs copper and fiber cables (multimode/single mode) and terminals in aerial, buried, underground, and building contexts at Savannah River Site. Responsibilities include OTDR and power meter tests, locating underground cables, fiber-optic splice cabinet installations, assisting cable-placement engineers with cable routes, and handling outside plant activities for work orders and trouble tickets. Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid driver's license, able to obtain DOE clearance, pass drug/alcohol screening, and lift up to 50 lbs; capability to work outdoors, in manholes, and flexible hours. Certifications in Outside Plant and Light Brigade preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High School
- Minimum Years of Experience: 3 – 5 Years
- Certified Outside Plant Certification
- Light Brigade Certification
- U.S. Citizenship
- Current driver's license
- Ability to pass alcohol and substance abuse test
- Ability to obtain DOE Clearance
- Ability to pass pre-hire drug screening
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Knowledge of outside plant fiber and copper including Cat5e/Cat6a cabling
- Outdoor/field work experience including working in manholes and outdoors
