Job Summary
The Telecom Product Development Senior Engineer is responsible for the development, qualification, and implementation of new/improved products and cost reduction projects as defined in the Telecom Product Roadmap. The role entails performing Design and Process Engineering tasks while managing New Product Development and Cost Reduction projects to completion. Key responsibilities include creating detailed product designs, conducting material selections, managing cost estimates, formulating qualification plans, and analyzing test results. The engineer will also work collaboratively with R&D, Operations, and Quality teams, provide Application Engineering support, and engage in competitor product analysis. Additional responsibilities comprise writing and presenting papers to industry forums and ensuring product compliance with the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Physics
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in new product design and development in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and development of optical fiber cables
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, plus an MS degree specialized in mechanics/optics
- Training in and knowledge of Six-Sigma concepts, including Design of Experiments
