Job Summary
Telecom Electronic Technician II in Los Angeles, full-time (40hrs/wk, 6 days including one on-call day) with travel within the seniority region and potential overtime/alternate shifts. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications equipment (radios, digital microwave, RF data link), wiring and wireless systems, AEI, IP networks, VoIP, cameras, RF communications, voice/data communications, and soldering components. Work is performed in a safety-sensitive environment under varied weather conditions; on-call duties and adherence to safety regulations and PPE are required. Training is company-paid, with on-the-job and classroom components, including possible travel to the BNSF Training Center. Relocation assistance is not available; 120-day probationary period. Requires readiness to work shifts per union agreement, travel within the seniority region, and ability to operate in a physically demanding environment.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years minimum of verifiable electronics experience or post-high school training
- Able to work now and in the future without employer assistance in obtaining employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN)
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Valid state driver’s license
- Able to read, write and communicate English
- Able to climb on/off equipment
- Able to occasionally work on top of locomotives
- Must pass Electronic Technician II qualification test with 80% or better
- Union membership with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and dues per union agreement
