Job Summary
Execute established engineering deliverables for the installation, configuration, and turn-up of DWDM, IP/MPLS, SONET, Carrier Ethernet, and Microwave transport systems. Prepare detailed specifications and documentation from high-level designs while troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Coordinate with project management, design, traffic engineering, protection/controls, and operations teams to address project tasks and track identified risks. Maintain accurate engineering documentation and network records for deployed transport infrastructure in accordance with established standards and processes. Facilitate project handoffs by compiling design packages and implementation details to ensure readiness for execution. Engage with vendors to support solution development and issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
- Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study with two (2) years of relevant work experience
- High school diploma/GED with four (4) years of relevant work experience
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above
- Five (5) years of work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above
- Valid Driver's License
- Intermediate level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles
- Competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity
- Understanding of pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems and business processes
- Ability to understand interrelationships between systems and component equipment
- Ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to extrapolate beyond known facts to reach logical conclusions
- Ability to effectively lead and facilitate meetings
- Ability to use initiative in looking for opportunities and presenting new ideas and new approaches
- Ability to relate to people in an open, friendly and sincere manner
- Ability to demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon their organizational unit

- Ability to validate that engineering documentation and network records accurately reflect deployed transport infrastructure
- Ability to facilitate project handoffs by ensuring transport designs, bills of material, and implementation details are complete, accurate, and clearly communicated
- Ability to engage with vendors to support solution development, technical alignment, and issue resolution
- Ability to develop and refine engineering deliverables
- Ability to contribute to transport network design and architecture by applying engineering principles across optical, packet, and microwave platforms
