Teen Programs Coordinator

Job Summary

Develop Milwaukee-based programming for participants in grades 9-12 by serving as lead facilitator for high school programs, workshops, and leadership labs. Support the preparation, design, and execution of programs, retreats, and events, including curriculum review, logistics, and communications. Coordinate activities with community partners and transport participants in PEAK vehicles, including a 12-passenger van. Serve as the intern lead for the Leaders in Training program and summer Day Camp leadership team. Attend specialized overnight trips and expeditions. Work full-time with a schedule including weekend, evening hours, and four overnight trips annually.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass PEAK's motor vehicle background check and driver training and safely drive/transport adults and children in PEAK vehicles, including a 12-passenger van.
  • Must be at least 19 and have a high school diploma or GED to apply.
  • Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience; experience in teaching and facilitating classes, trainings, and/or workshops.
  • Must be comfortable working in the office and program center situated in the Milwaukee County Park and community we serve.
  • You are highly energetic with an ability to work independently and maintain a strong commitment to teamwork; you have the ability to confidently set and enforce clear expectations and boundaries with youth participants and staff.
  • You are calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff.
  • You are highly organized with the ability to plan for multifaceted programming effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience supporting young people navigate through complex emotions.
  • Comfort in talking through the complex emotions or behaviors with the guardians of the young person.
  • Ability to travel locally in Milwaukee to facilitate programming.
  • Ability to attend all overnight trips, 2-4 nights depending on the trip.
  • Understanding that summer programming for PEAK is extensive and multifaceted and willingness to be present and fully engaged during this critical time.
  • All PEAK Initiative properties, including Lake Valley Camp and the Milwaukee Program Center, are substance-free environments. Smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and the use of illicit drugs are strictly prohibited on all property regardless of whether or not staff are on break.

Desired Qualifications

  • A familiarity with Google Drive and client management databases is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) experience in client-focused conversation is a plus.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
