Job Summary

Lead day-to-day operational support for software systems, services, and infrastructure across cloud-based, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Build, patch, test, and deploy complex systems while planning changes to enhance performance through infrastructure-as-code and automated delivery. Perform data backup, migration, and disaster recovery operations, execute complex software and OS upgrades, and configure security settings. Provide technical support by troubleshooting platform and application performance issues, document procedures, and maintain system licensing. Formulate recommendations consistent with directives and policies, provide guidance to subordinate staff, and collaborate with vendors and other City departments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field]
  • Three (3) years of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining the components of a system or platform
  • Knowledge of physical (e.g., Linux) and virtual servers (e.g., VMware)
  • Knowledge of various software applications (e.g., CMIS-Primavera)
  • Knowledge of antivirus software (e.g., McAfee)
  • Knowledge of systems security & ability to implement system security protocols
  • Knowledge of storage technologies and backup systems (e.g., NetApp)
  • Knowledge of various operating systems (e.g., Windows 7 XP)
  • Ability to configure multifunction devices
  • Ability to document developed procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of active directory
  • Ability to troubleshoot server, storage and network connectivity problems
  • Analytical thinking
  • Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Clearance (for positions with the San Francisco Airport)
  • Customs Access Seal (for positions with the San Francisco Airport)
  • Security clearance issued by the Sheriff's Department (for positions with the Sherriff's Department)
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) certificate (for positions with the Port)
