Job Summary

Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations as ordered by providers, selecting appropriate transducers and techniques based on clinical indications. Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures such as biopsies and aspirations while maintaining sterile fields and infection prevention protocols. Analyze sonographic images, differentiate normal and pathologic findings, and communicate results to radiologists and ordering providers. Complete required documentation in Cerner, verify charges, and coordinate examinations to ensure timely patient care. Maintain ultrasound equipment, perform quality control procedures, and support cross-training for Radiologic Technologist responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program
  • Successful completion of coursework in Sonography and Vascular Technology
  • Must maintain required continuing medical education for applicable registry credentials
  • Three (3) years of ultrasound experience
  • Must be certified in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • Current AHA BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Ability to maintain required hearing and visual acuity for examinations, patient monitoring, equipment alarms, and documentation
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with providers and other healthcare professionals
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic health records
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved ARDMS program
  • Previous hospital or rural healthcare imaging experience
  • OB/GYN certification
  • Abdomen certification
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification
  • Cerner experience
  • Is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient-centered care
  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and independent clinical judgment
  • Is attentive to detail and committed to producing accurate, high-quality examinations
  • Communicates effectively with patients, providers, radiologists, and coworkers
  • Adapts well to changing priorities in a hospital environment
  • Values teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning
