Job Summary
Measure, analyze, and record pulmonary function procedures and perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing for patients on care units, in the department, and in the outpatient clinic. Working under the direction of a physician and laboratory coordinator, you will serve as a go-to resource within the Pulmonary Laboratory, performing routine pulmonary function testing and cardiac monitoring independently. You will implement quality assurance and quality control programs, train new employees, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure adherence to Joint Commission and regulatory standards. Additionally, participate in educational and clinical programs, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and attend continuing education seminars. Training occurs at Sibley Memorial for 6+/- months before the permanent location in Falls Church, VA.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED with certificate in respiratory therapy
- Associate's degree in respiratory therapy
- Bachelor's degree in health science or biology
- One year (12 months) experience in a pulmonary function lab
- CPR (BLS) certification
- Credentialing through the N.B.R.C. as a respiratory care practitioner or pulmonary function technologist
- Ability to maintain certification throughout employment
- Ability to become credentialed within 2 years of employment if not credentialed
