Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability per established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, identify and replenish testing bench supplies, and assist with specimen processing as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Work Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00 AM to 11:30 AM AM.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
