Job Summary
Technologist II (Molecular) develops and executes assays for molecular biology projects through assay development, validation, and execution phases in a CLIA-lab environment. Works with scientists to run RNA/DNA extractions, qPCR, NGS, and other molecular platforms; runs QC samples and patient/clinical samples; maintains reagents and instruments; performs routine maintenance and trouble-shooting; trains staff; collaborates with QA to ensure documentation under CLIA, GLP, and GCP standards; participates in cross-functional process improvements; may perform freezer transfers and generate reports; requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and ability to work a flexible shift. Preferred: 4 years experience in NGS core facilities, ASCP MB certification, wet-lab experience across NGS workflows, and regulatory documentation background.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biology or related discipline
- More than 2 years of laboratory experience
- Must be able to read, write, speak fluently in English
- Strong computational skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent judgment and discretion
- Ability to lift 1-15 lbs and up to 50 lbs with assistance; tolerate cold freezer environments (-20oC to -196oC)
- Occasional long hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Team player, detail-oriented, organized, able to work under pressure
- Ability to contribute to QC of reagents and SOP writing
