Job Summary
Technologist I Student in the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) training program within the Blood Bank Technology (BBT) Program. Responsible for guided donor and/or patient testing, interpreting serologic results for donor-recipient compatibility, coordinating transport of specimens, inventory and reagent management, and adherence to SOPs and regulatory requirements. Under supervision, perform basic and guided donor/patient testing, resolve serologic problems, complete quality control, maintain accurate records, and prepare for ABOR MT–Immunohematology exam and BB(ASCP) certification. Develop laboratory skills, work as part of a team, and pursue state licensure where required; position emphasizes safety, quality, training, and eventual transition to Technologist I upon program completion.
Required Qualifications
- MLT certification or meet one of the following: An associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that includes one of the following: At least 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology courses; or At least 24 semester hours in science courses, including: 6 semester hours of chemistry 6 semester hours of biology 12 additional semester hours in any combination of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology. Must hold state license if required by the state.
